If we can embark on a program that not only exercises our bodies, but also increases muscle mass we are half way there to making progress on our fat loss diet. Muscles use way more calories than fat just to maintain themselves, but they also support the body and keep it in an attractive shape, you look a lot better. 

 

To really up the ante, we should use the large muscle groups as much as possible, such as the legs, and also use multiple muscles at the same time rather than concentrating on one group.

 

The graeter number of muscles we can use the more our fat loss diet will be effective and the better results we can expect in a given time. Squats and overhead presses using free weights use practically all the muscle groups and especially those big ones of the legs, back, and arms. 

 

Your fat loss diet will also be more effective if you can get in some high intensity cardio. This may involve speeding up and slowing down, to recover for a while, but the aim is to get that heart rate up.

 

This type of program will use more calories than long slow exercise, but will also have the compound effect of burning calories long after you have stopped exercising. If you can commit to this type of program 3-4 times a week for say 20minutes you will begin to see some real progress
